What is a lukewarm Christian?

From the King James Version of the New Testament book of Revelation, chapter 3, verses 15 and 16 it says: I Know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spit thee out of my mouth. This was a message from Jesus, given to John, to tell to the church in Laodicia. The church, which is not the building but the group of Christian believers, had become bland. They were no longer on fire or in love with the Lord. They were just going through the motions of being followers. When a drink of water is lukewarm it is no longer refreshing or appealing to others. The believers in Laodicia took no sides in anything. They stood for nothing. They were neither for nor against anything. They were comfortable just as they were and were self centered and half hearted in their Christian walk of life. Christ will have nothing to do with them. There are too many churches today that have become complacent in their walk with the Lord. They do nothing to spread the word of salvation, which we all are commanded to do. In Matthew 28: 19 -20 Jesus tells His disciples (and the church (us)): Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world, Amen. (KJV) This is called the Great Commission. We are not to sit on our hands with our mouths shut. We are to tell the world that Jesus Christ has died for us. For all of us and that there is a way to heaven and avoid hell. Jesus does not want us to be luke warm. He would love us to be on fire for Him and spread the Good News!
