Cor pulmonale, which is right-sided heart failure due to lung disease, is more commonly associated with chronic bronchitis than emphysema. This is because chronic bronchitis leads to more significant hypoxia and increased pulmonary vascular resistance, which contributes to the development of cor pulmonale. While emphysema can also lead to cor pulmonale, the effects are generally less pronounced compared to chronic bronchitis. Overall, chronic bronchitis presents a greater risk for the development of this condition.

Cigarette smoking can increase your risk to develop lung cancer and detrimental illnesses such as emphysema. Long term smoking can also lead to chronic bronchitis. After the first time you have bronchitis, you normally retain a rough cough commonly referred to as a "smoker's cough".
Bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchial tubes, which carry air to and from the lungs. It can be acute or chronic, with acute bronchitis often caused by infections and chronic bronchitis typically resulting from long-term irritants like smoking. The inflammation leads to increased mucus production, coughing, and difficulty breathing, as the airways become narrowed and obstructed. Consequences on breathing can include wheezing, shortness of breath, and an increased risk of respiratory infections.
Chronic bronchitis, characterized by persistent inflammation of the airways, can lead to other diseases due to prolonged damage to lung tissue and impaired respiratory function. The chronic inflammation may promote infections, such as pneumonia, and increase the risk of developing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Additionally, reduced oxygen levels can strain the heart, potentially leading to heart failure or pulmonary hypertension. Overall, the systemic effects of chronic bronchitis can exacerbate existing health issues and contribute to the development of new diseases.
Chronic. There are not many acute nutritional diseases except food poisoning, infections and sugar issues for diabetics. In contrast most of the major western chronic diseases such as heart disease and some cancers are nutritionally related.

You cant--- Smoking increases risk of lung cancer as well as other diseases such a emphysema, chronic bronchitis & copd. The only way to help decrease the risk is not to smoke at all.
