A major theme in Stave 4 of "A Christmas Carol" is redemption and transformation. Scrooge is confronted with the consequences of his actions and is given a chance to change his ways, leading to his redemption and transformation into a more compassionate and generous person. The stave highlights the power of self-reflection and the possibility of personal growth and change.
Basically here the third ghost, the Ghost of Christmas yet to Come, shows Scrooge scenes after his death. Everybody appears happy that he has died. Only the Cratchit family is very sad - their son Tiny Tim has passed away. Scrooge realizes his mistake. It is then that Scrooge begs the ghost to let him change such a terrible future for him and Tiny Tim and swears to keep Christmas forever after.
Stave four sees Scrooge meet the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come. It is here that he is most frightened as the Ghost will show him events taht could occur if he does not change his hard hearted ways. By the end of the stave Scrooge realises that he has lost Christmas and has ignored the plight of mankind around him. He gives an oath to change and keep Christmas in his heart from thereafter.
Stave 4 (they aren't called chapters in this book) is when the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come enters Scrooge's life and shows him what could be in his future should he not change his miserly ways.
