What is Al-Qaeda?
Al-Qaeda is an international terrorist network led by Usama bin Laden (the "Osama" spelling is deprecated, because there is no letter "O" in Arabic). Established around 1988 by bin Laden, al-Qaeda helped finance, recruit, transport and train thousands of fighters from dozens of countries to be part of an Afghan resistance to defeat the Soviet Union. To continue the holy war beyond Afghanistan, al-Qaeda's current goal is to establish a pan-Islamic Caliphate throughout the world by working with allied Islamic extremist groups to overthrow regimes it deems "non-Islamic" and expelling Westerners and non-Muslims from Muslim countries. In February 1998, al-Qaeda issued a statement under banner of "The World Islamic Front for Jihad Against the Jews and Crusaders" saying it was the duty of all Muslims to kill US citizens-civilian or military-and their allies everywhere. Al-Qaeda would merge with Egyptian Islamic Jihad (Al-Jihad) of Ayman al-Zawahiri in June 2001. After al-Qaeda's September 11, 2001, attacks on America, the United States launched a war in Afghanistan to destroy al-Qaeda's bases there and overthrow the Taliban, the country's Muslim fundamentalist rulers who harbored bin Laden and his followers. "Al-Qaeda" is Arabic for "the base." In an al-Qaeda house in Afghanistan, New York Times reporters found a brief statement of the "Goals and Objectives of Jihad": * Establishing the rule of God on earth * Attaining martyrdom in the cause of God * Purification of the ranks of Islam from the elements of depravity In 1998, several al-Qaeda leaders issued a declaration calling on Muslims to kill Americans-including civilians-as well as "those who are allied with them from among the helpers of Satan."Al Qaeda is a Islamic Extremest terrorist organization led by the FBI's and worlds most notorious criminal Osama Bin Laden. This Orginization was thought to have been involved with countless acts of terror including but not limited to, 9/11 twice, the assassination of former Pakistani Prime minister Benazir Bhutto, the slaughtering of countless reporters and missionaries, IED bombings and suicide bombings on British train stations and railways, countless murder's on American troops, and constant war with Americas closest friends.= =Al Qaeda is a terrorist group formed by Osama bin Laden around 1989. It was first created to get rid of the Soviet Union, but now is used to attack the westerners ( commonly referred as 'the Western Devils') or Jews. in 1998, under "the World Islamic Front for Jihad against the Jews and the Crusaders" saying that it was the duty of all Muslims to kill all US citizens, civilten or militarian, and their allies everywhere. After the 9-11 attacks on the US, the US went to invade Iraq why? only god knows, because after all, the extremists came from Egypt, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other places, not Iraq. Right now the US is in Afghanistan looking for Osama bin Laden, yeah he's still alive.Well, as of May 2, 2011 Osama bin Laden is dead. The U.S found him in a clever hiding spot, but he took 2 shots, one to the head and the other to finish him off.It is a terrorist organization who believes America and other western countries are literally the devil.Al Qaeda is a large network made up of groups Islamic terrorists. There are both large and small cells of these terrorists located in many countries throughout the world.
