Notwithstanding what you may read, there is no onewho was proven to have successfully escaped from Alcatraz. On June 11, 1962, Frank Morris, John Anglin and Clarence Anglin
escaped the prison as the climax of a very elaborately conceived plan, but several investigations after the fact all came to the conclusion that they never made it to the mainland.

Al Capone was one and Robert "Birdman" Stroud. Who also served time at the Leavenworth Correctional Facility in Leavenworth, Kansas prior to Alcatraz.
