* Make a homework notebook and let all your teachers know that you plan to write down all their assignments in it * Have your friends write helpful sayings and inspirational phrases into your notebook or notebooks * Introduce yourself to people before class - tell them your name and what your favorite things are, then ask them what their name and favorite things are * Write down your goals for the year in your notebook - list important things you hope to learn from each class that will help you after you graduate, or list things you think might be interesting to learn this year * Bring something for each of your teachers - not an expensive gift, but something that lets them know you appreciate them - you might make a card or drawing, or bring a flower from your garden if you have one * Have students write a short description of themselves to put on the board, or to share with the class * Assign one student for each other student and have them "interview" their subject to learn as much as they can about them - you can write out questions for them like "what are your favorite foods?" and "what hobbies do you have?" * Hand out an outline of the year's course and tell the students that you are giving them all the answers up front * Give each student a badge or ribbon welcoming them to your class - this can be a simple bit of ribbon with fabric paint, or something more elaborate as your budget and time allows
