Particle physics is the study of the tiny subatomic particles -- the fundimental objects that make up the matter the world is composed of. The study of the behavior of the parts that make up atoms, such as electrons, protons, and neutrons and the yet lower level particles they're composed of is particle physics.

That depends. The smallest particle in the classic physics is te atom. In the modern physics is the quark (quark is the composition of an eletron). WHAT IS THE SMALLEST PARTICLE The quark

What does the suffix on mean in particle physics?

In particle physics, the suffix β€œ-on” is often used to designate a particle or entity as being a type of boson. Bosons are particles that obey Bose-Einstein statistics and carry fundamental forces, such as photons for electromagnetism. Examples include gluons, which mediate the strong nuclear force, and gravitons, which are hypothetical particles that could mediate gravity.

What type of physics is the higgs boson involved with?

Particle physics. Specifically, the Standard Model of Particle Physics was centered around the Higgs Boson- had the boson not been found to exist, then modern physics as we know it would be on very shaky ground.
