Llama or Llano
Yes, there are words beginning with l in Welsh. The misconception that there are not stems from the letter Ll which is a separate letter in the Welsh alphabet (can be found on Wikipedia) as well as the L we have in English. To make the Ll sound you put your tongue on the roof of your mouth and blow air past it like pronouncing an l word. For example, Llantrisant is not a spelling mistake but would be pronounced as if saying Lantrisant but with the pronounciation for the Ll sound.

LL is a letter in the Welsh alphabet, there is no equivalent sound in English. There are several names that start with LL, e.g Llywelyn, Llyr, Llandudno, Llanfair. The nearest sounding English name would be LEON. But this still wouldn't be the correct pronunciation of Llion. It's very difficult to describe the sound of the letter LL. The best way to find out, would be ask a Welsh speaker.
