A persons personality is usually made up of the way a person usually grows up. In details this would mean, a persons brain is usually influenced by the social life. So if a child grows up in a area and a house of abusing people, screaming at people, or even doing drugs, than most likely this person will grow up to have a negative personality. Childhood is a very important part of this, because this is where humans learn and pick up behaviour rapidly.
This is just what came up on the top of my mind. But of course, there's much more to this.
