The definition of popular varies widely from person to person. While some people may define it as having tons of friends to be around, others may define it as having a small group of friends, but those friends are people who you know well and are close to. Popularity can't really be defined, and if it can, it certainly shouldn't, because it sets social standards which can't always be matched. It should be left upon the discrimination of the individual, because everyone will have a different view of what popularity is.

To put it in simpler terms, there isn't a good definition of the word popular. If a person has 2 friends, he or she would consider 10 friends popular, while a person with 100 friends wouldn't. He or she would actually consider having 10 friends unpopular. It's up to you to define where the line between popular and unpopular is.
