A compass - can only indicate a direction to travel. A GPS receiver - can not only show you which direction to go, but how far away you are from your destination.
The positive effect is that you can succeed in getting to where you're going. A GPS can tell you exactly where you are, and when you couple that information with a map, you can move straight to where you want to be. All a compass can tell you is which way you're facing, which really isn't very useful.

9 degrees 32 minutes EAST (positive)
Positive : makes life easier negative : makes us lazy
To input a negative bearing into a compass, first convert the negative bearing into a positive angle by adding 360 degrees (if necessary) to bring it within the 0-360 degree range. For example, a bearing of -30 degrees becomes 330 degrees. Then, align the compass to this positive angle, using the compass housing to set the desired bearing. Finally, use the compass to navigate according to the adjusted angle.

these are the ancient ways: using pi using a ruler using the side of your hands to measure compass
The disadvantages of using a compass for surveying is that readings are often inaccurate (accuracy dependent on size and graduations of compass, it is easily disturbed by effects of local magnetic attraction
on a compass it caused the compass to point to the magnet instead of magnetic north, I think that South will point to the magnet (if I remember correctly) You can get around this by using our patent which allows a magnetic radio speaker in a radio direction finder to sit directly next to a compass - by aligning the radio speaker to sit directly south of the compass it does not effect the accuracy.
Typically the compass rose. Some systems use a heading tape instead.
When you are using a compass you are navigating to a certain point. So it could be navigation.
Positive effects of using perception shortcuts when judging others include efficiency and quick decision-making. However, negative effects can include bias, stereotyping, and the potential for inaccurate judgments based on limited information.
