A tortilla press is a mechanical contraption used to make corn tortillas. Known as a "tortilladora" in Mexico, a tortilla press is a simple appliance made of either metal or wood. To use a tortilla press, a small ball of corn dough, or masa, is placed in the center of the tortilla press, pressure is applied via the handle of the press, and the dough is flattened into a round, flat tortilla which is then cooked.
It is a machine that presses potatoes.
A tortilla press is easy to use and difficulty really depends on the type of press you are operating. You just place a ball of dough between the two presses, and press. Simply as that!
There are several very dependable tortilla presses that I would recommend. I suggest that you check out the Mexican Tortilla press. It is sold at a very reasonable price and it gets the job done.
Tortilla warmers can be purchased for seven dollars or less at department stores such as Target and Wal-Mart. These products are special containers that aid in the preparation of tortillas and other food.
If you meant a 10" tortilla press, you would probably have better luck looking for a wooden one. Cast iron and aluminum tortilla presses are usually 6.5" or 8". You could also make your own which would allow you to make it any size you want. It also depends on how many tortillas you're planning on making at one time. There are also larger commercial ones like at Tundra Restaurant Supply that range from 15" to 18". These larger ones all have metal plates.
