The executive powers that most governors' posses are Appointment and Removal, Supervisory Powers, Budget-Making Powers, and Military Powers.
Hope this helps :)
States are divided into 3 branches of government just like the federal, so they don't have any more power.
The president has veto power over bills passed by Congress. The Senate has the power to confirm or reject nominations that the President makes for ambassadors, cabinet member and federal judges. The Senate has to ratify any treaties the President makes by a 2/3 vote before they can take effect. The president can send troops to some foreign country and essentially make war, but only Congress can declare war and appropriate the funding for military action.

I believe that the most important power granted to the president is the power of deciding on whether or not to keep the war overseas going. I think that the country doesn't understand that in order to stop the war, it has to go beyond the president.
among informal powers of the president.
Governors can veto state bills, but nothing besides a state bill. The president has the power to veto any law or bill that is present. The president can veto only a federal bill, one that was passed by Congress, and he can only veto the entire bill -- he can't pick the parts he likes and dislikes.Governors can veto only state bills, passed by that state's legislature. Some governors have the line-item veto. They can veto the parts of a bill they object to, and let the rest become law.

State governments are controlled by a governor that is elected by the residents of that state. Governors have the power to activate their state's national guard, line item veto in certain states, state of the state address, and hosting foreign dignitaries should their visit their state.
The power of veto, budgetary formation, and being the commander-in-chief of the state's military forces are three of the powers the governor has over the legislative branch. They also have the power to overturn death penalty issues.

One of the most overlooked of the presidential powers is clemency. He can pardon or commute the sentence of any federal prisoner. What's more, there is no supervision of this power; he doesn't have to get anyone's approval, nor does he have to explain his actions to anyone. Governors have the power of clemency for state prisoners. Due to one controversial decision, one state recently considered limiting the governor's powers of clemency. Although the power of clemency is absolute, it is not without consequence. Jerry Ford outraged enough people by freeing Nixon that, according to many pundits, he was unable to win re-election.
