A spreadsheet can be used to make predictions, like how much money a company might make if they sell a certain amount of products at a certain price. Businesses use spreadsheets extensively to plan how they are going to allocate their money or to work out what they can afford to do, or what would happen if they try different ways of doing their business, like the amount of people they employ, where they sell their products etc. So a spreadsheet can enable all sorts of predictions to be made. Like any predictions, they are not always correct.
