The biggest seismic waves are surface waves, which travel along the Earth's surface and are usually the most destructive during an earthquake. The two main types of surface waves are Rayleigh waves and Love waves. Rayleigh waves cause the ground to move elliptically in vertical and horizontal directions, while Love waves cause horizontal shearing motion.
ECG records electrical activity and not mechanical, hence it has nothing to do with contraction. But P wave represents atrial depolarization.

The primary body wave that is a longitudinal wave is the P-wave (primary wave). It is the fastest seismic wave and travels through the Earth's interior by compressing and expanding the rock in the direction of the wave's propagation.
A primary wave is a strong vibration or wave that hits earths surface (P) and a secondary wave (S) is a wave that hits soon after but not nearly as big.
The primary wave (P-wave) vibrates in the same direction as the wave propagation. This means that the particles in the material move back and forth parallel to the direction of wave travel as the P-wave passes through.
