basically it slows down the flow of current.

max resistace = no current

min. resistance = fullcurrent.

Answer

I think you mean the principle, not 'principal', of resistance!

Resistance is a natural property of any conducting material, and is determined by the length, cross-sectional area, and resistivity of that material. As resistivity is affected by temperature, temperature indirectly affects resistance.

Resistance is directly proportional to length -e.g. double the length of a conductor, you double its resistance.

Resistance is inversely proportional to area -e.g. double the area of a conductor, you halve its resistance.

Resistance is directly proportional to resistivity, which is determined by the material from which the conductor is made.

Resistance does not 'slow down' an electric current. It acts to limit the current.

What is the principal energy transformation occurring in an electric kettle?

The principal energy transformation in an electric kettle is electrical energy being converted into heat energy through the process of electrical resistance in the heating element. This allows the water in the kettle to heat up and eventually boil, generating steam.
