A quarter from 1789 does not exist, the first one was made in 1796 and if you look under the AIRPLANE the date is 2001, spend it.
It's not a real quarter. These were novelty items given out as promotional items.
1796 is the first year the US issued a quarter, look at the coin again and post new question.
I hope you don't mean a North Carolina state quarter with the date 1789 above the airplane, yes it's real and it's 25 cents.
It is a funeral token not a coin, if in good condition circulated no more then $5 to $10.00
The US didn't issue any commemorative quarters in 1925. The only quarter that depicts the Wright Brothers flight is the North Carolina State Quarter which carried the dual dates 1789, the year NC was admitted to the Union and 2001, the coin's minting date.
If it has the date 2007, it was made in 2007. 1789-1797 are the years George Washington served as President. And if the coin is about the size of a quarter and golden in color, it's not a SILVER dollar, it's made of brass.
"North Carolina became the 12th state on November 21, 1789. Governor James B. Hunt had several state groups and coin collectors evaluate design ideas from the people of North Carolina. The governor and his committees selected the "First Flight" design idea to represent their state quarter. The words "First Flight" are in the center of the quarter." - Excerpt from page linked below. It is a shame that people who designed the quarter didn't see how misleading it is to place the year 1789 above "First Flight". In fact the Wright brothers had their first flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina on December 17, 1903.
