Check for a pulse and breathing. If no pulse, start CPR. If pulse exists and no breathing, perform rescue breaths. If pulse and breathing exists, keep airway open & monitor patient.
An aed is programed to only deliver a shock under specific heart rythms, so when it say no shock advised, that means the heart isn't in that specific rythm.
If the AED does not read a shockable sinus rhythm (V-Tach or V-Fib), it will not shock the patient.
After the shock, the AED will either say that another shock is advised or to continue CPR.
No shock advised if: 1. There is not a shockable abnormal sinus rhythm 2. Asystole exists 3. No shock is needed
AED no shock advised next step is to check for breathing & a pulse for 10 seconds. No breathing, no pulse immediately start / continue CPR until AED analyzes again.
Check pulse, and if no pulse, continue CPR until the AED goes to the analyze phase again.
Check for a pulse; if no pulse resume CPR. The AED will reanalyze in 2 minutes.
Insure there is no pulse before you attach the pads to the victim.
An AED is used to analyze the rhythm of the heart and determine whether it would be beneficial to the victim to administer electric shock. A conscious person suffering from minor heart palpitations will not get any benefit from an AED because you cannot administer electric shock to a conscious patient and the AED will simply tell you (at the end of its analysis) that "shock is not advised."
The number of shocks will depend on the results of the AED analyzing the patient. It will vary on the situation and protocols set up in the AED. You will not be able to shock a patient until determined by the AED a shockable rhythm exists.
There is no shockable rhythm the AED can shock for.
Stand back from the victim and wait for the AED to give you further instructions or the paramedics show up. Follow every voiced instruction and DO NOT DELIVER SHOCK
Check for a pulse; if no pulse immediately resume CPR. The AED only shocks for 2 cases; V-Fib & V-Tach. If the problem with the sinus rhythm is not one of these two, the AED will not shock even though there is no pulse.
The AED machine should tell you the next step which is to continue CPR.
