The time and materials of the job are as follows: Removal and disposal of the old refrigerant Cost of replacement compressor Cost of refrigerant filter driers (several changes if system experienced a bad burnout) Evacuation of system following compressor change Cost of entire new refrigerant charge (probably somewhere around 10 lbs) I would figure 1 man an entire 8 hour day at the company`s hourly labor rate I cannot quote you a dollar amount as I do not know the size of your compressor, how many drier changes will be required or what area you are in which dictates hourly labor rates. I can tell you you are probably close to if not beyond 1/2 way to the cost of a new system
