'Made of' is difficult to say, but the reflex arc includes within it Sensory Nerve Fibres, Receptor Cells and Sensory Neurones. The effect of these is to bypass the normal interface with the central nervous system, so that the body responds instantly to potentially dangerous stimuli.

reflexes are present in varied degrees of complexity. Reflex arcs are connections among neurons that allow for the execution of a reflex in the nervous system. Upon being triggered by a stimuli, a neuronal signal travels to the synapse. A motor neuron receives the signal and transmits it across the synapses, causing the desired reaction to be elicited. As a result of the fact that these neural impulses sometimes fail to reach the brain,Β many reflex are receptive responses to stimuli that don't require or involve conscious thought.
