Solids tend to have a higher density because the molecules are arranged closer together where as in gases the molecules are further apart. Since density is Mass/Volume, and solids have more mass per volume than gases it is more dense
The movement so described is called diffusion. When particles of regions of higher density move to regions of lower density, they are said to diffuse.
A gas like air, is marked by lower density of molecules than a solid or liquid. Friction is caused by molecules bumping into eachother, so the more molecules there are to run into, the higher the friction. So, air has less molecules per cubic foot and therefore has less density and less friction than water.
Diffusion. Osmosis is the diffusion of water, specifically.
It will tend to increase, but this is not the case for all liquids. The reason this happens is because as the liquid's molecules gain energy they exert force on their neighbouring molecules, which leads to the molecules becoming spread apart as the temperature increases. Conversely, when the molecules get colder and lose energy they exert less force on neighbouring molecules and so they get closer and the density increases. However, in water this trend is true for all temperatures above 4oC, but not below 4oC. When water goes below 4oC the density starts to decrease. This is due the the oxygen being very electronegative, giving the water molecules a slight charge bias (the cause of effects like water tension) which makes them like little bar magnets. As the temperature drops the molecules become less able to overcome this slight charge bias, which pulls the water molecules into a shape like that of ice (which we know has a lower density than liquid water.
It is when molecules in a cell naturally move from a high-density area in the cell to one of lower density.
The chemical formula is absolutely identical - H2O. The density of ice is lower than the density of water.
Simply put, the higher the altitude, the lower the density of the air molecules.
region oh higher concerntration to the region of lower concerntration
water uptake at the roots is called osmosis, this is the movement of water molecules from a region of lower concentration to a region of higher concentration against concentration gradient
Osmosis is the movement of water molecules across a semipermeable membrane from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration. Diffusion is the movement of any molecules from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration. so yes it is possible to have diffusion without osmosis.
Nonpolar molecules that have a lower density than that of water (<1g/mL) will float above water.
DiffusionThe movement of particles from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration is called diffusion. However, the movement of water through a semi-permeable membrane (from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration) is specifically called osmosis.
The lower trunk of a pig is called the posterior region. The trunk is divided into an upper, middle, and lower region due to its size and functions.
Diffusion
Diffusion is movement of molecules, from region of higher concentration, to the region of lower concentration, along concentration gradient.
The lower middle region is called the abdomen. It is located between the chest and the pelvis and contains organs such as the stomach, liver, and intestines.
