Best Answer

A regulatory sign STATES the law.

An example would be a speed limit sign. That sign regulates the maximum or minimum speed at which you may lawfully drive. Other examples include stop, yield, do not enter, one-way, no parking, no left turn and other signs.

Compare to "warning signs", which identify potential road hazards to which you must pay attention and "informational signs", which merely tell you something about the location or how to get to another location.
