A ring main circuit for example is:

key:

circuit breaker=0

cable=----

socket=[]

bends in cable=/ and \

Using the key this is a demonatration.

0---[]-----[]-------[]------[]---[]---\

\---[]-----[]-----[]----[]-------[]---/

Just imagine that there is only 1 circuit breaker in that circuit, both ends of the ring main should link up to that 1 breaker.

A radial circuit consists of just 1 cable going to the circuit breaker with sockets on the cable but there is no return path on a radial.

A ring main is just like a big circle with 2 ends of cable and sockets around the circle=both ends of the cable linking to the circuit breaker.

Residential 'power' (as opposed to 'lighting') circuits in the UK and the Irish Republic are always ring mains, supplemented by spurs off that ring main. A ring main is formed when the line conductor of a cable forms a loop around the building with both ends supplied from the same fuse or circuit breaker, and both ends of the neutral conductor are connected to the same neutral terminal. This enables the load current to flow in both directions from the consumer unit to the load, enabling a ring-main conductor to have a smaller cross-sectional area than an equivalent radial system. It was introduced in around 1947, when Britain and the Irish Republic were recovering from the Second World War, and there was a large house-building programme, but copper was in short supply.

A ring main uses less volume of copper than a corresponding radial system. Because the ring main itself is protected by means of a relatively large fuse or circuit breaker, individual loads are protected by means of fused plugs of various current ratings up to a maximum of 13 A - enabling each socket to supply up to a maximum of approximately 3 kW.

What is the difference between a radial circuit and a ring final circuit?

A 'ring final circuit', or 'ring-main system', is one in which the line conductor starts and ends at the same line terminal, and the neutral conductor starts and ends at the same neutral terminal in the consumer unit. This means that line current can flow it two opposite directions to the same load, meaning that the current-carrying capacity of the conductors is effectively larger than it would be if the same cross-sectional area conductors were used in a radial system. Loads connected to the ring main are then individually fused using fused plugs.A 'radial circuit' is one in which only one end of the circuit is connected to the line and neutral terminals, with opposite end terminating at a load.Ring final circuits are more-or-less unique to the United Kingdom, and were introduced around 1947 when a large house-building programme was established to compensate for the amount of properties destroyed in the second world war. At the same time, there was a shortage of copper, and a ring main system was a method of saving copper without reducing load capacity.

What happens to the current flowing in the ring main as more bulbs are turned on at night?

As more light bulbs are added in a series circuit, the effective resistance of the circuit increases. That causes the current leaving the source to decrease.

What circuit has all the coponents in one loop?

It is a series circuit with all the components connected in series.

What type of circuit is most common in household wiring?

The most common types of circuit breaker used are MCBs. (Miniature Circuit Breakers.)The most common type of breaker used in most every residence in the U.S.A. is the non-adjustable trip breaker.

What is meaning ring main unit RMU and application?

A ring-main unit is a piece of switchgear used on high-voltage distribution ring-main systems (e.g. in the UK at 11 kV). Essentially, it's three switches incorporated into one device used to connect a transformer to a high-voltage ring main. It allows the transformer to be connected/disconnected to the ring main and it also allows the ring main to be 'broken'. Each of the switches has three positions: open, closed, or earthed (grounded); the earth position allows the transformer or either (or both) halves of the ring main to be earthed when maintenance is required.

How long is the main ring?

If you are talking about an electrical ring main it can be as long as you want it as long as it returns back to the circuit breaker with the other end of the cable, which if you didn't return the 2nd end of the cable to the circuit breaker you would have a radial circuit.
