A sabbaton is a part of a knight's armour which covers the foot.
Samstag is the German word for Saturday and means (as in English) Day of Saturn. It is derived from Old High German Sambaztac, which in turn is derived from the Greek sabbaton from the Hebrew Å abbatai (Star (Saturn) of the Å abbat).
A sabaton (or sabbaton) is a part of a knight's armour which covers the foot.
Since sabbath means rest 1 and Thanksgiving was established as a National Holiday by Abraham Lincoln to be held the fourth Thursday of each November it is fair to say that most Americans celebrates a Thursday Sabbath. 1.- Etymology: Middle English sabat, from Anglo-French & Old English, from Latin sabbatum, from Greek sabbaton, from Hebrew shabbth, literally, rest).
God created the earth in six days and on.the seventh day He rested from His labour. Even after the crucifixion Jesus rested on the Sabbath and rose on the 1st day. The sabbath is all about resting from worldly doings and spending time with GOD. So there are many examples in.the scriptures. Another observation: Technically, it doesn't. The Greek word for the "seventh-day" Jewish Sabbath was sabbaton, while the word used in Hebrews 4:9 is sabbatismos, which specifically refers to the "restful" element of the sabbath. Thus the word is also translated "rest" in the King James and New King James, and some variation of "Sabbath rest" in the Standard, Revised Standard and NIV. In no case is it translated simply "sabbath," because that's not what it refers to.
The word "week" in the New Testament is from "sabbaton":"...of Hebrew origin [HSN7676]; the Sabbath (i.e. Shabbath), or day of weekly repose from secular avocations (also the observance or institution itself); by extension, a se'nnight, i.e. the interval between two Sabbaths; likewise the plural in all the above applications: KJV--sabbath (day), week." (Strong's Definitions)It's a repetitious seven-day period that's an "unnatural" measurement of time unlike any "normal" measurement; like a year, month, day, hour, or second, that's measurable by the "movement of the planets."There's no "natural accountability" for the seven-day week to exist [as opposed to an eight, nine, ten, or any other numbered repetitive day cycle]... except for its "divine-inspiration" by God for man to "remember creation" on each "seventh-day" of the weekly cycle. Which God calls "the Sabbath day."The biblical "week" was given to man in the beginning by God to REMEMBER CREATION: "...God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it [set it apart for Holy use]: because in it He had rested from all His work which God created and made." (Gen.2:3)"...for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it." (Ex.20:11)
