A girl, Sophie, lives on a Greek island where her single mum Donna runs a hotel. Sophie finds Donna's old diary and realises that there are three men who her father could be. On the spur of the moment, she invites them to her wedding. Names: Sam, Bill and Harry. She thinks that once she meets them she will know who her father is. She is wrong. She tries to hide them from Donna but Donna finds out eventually and falls in love with Sam all over again. Two of Donna's friends (Tanya and Rosie) are with her and they decide to help Donna get rid of the dads once and for all. However, they all come to Sophie's wedding. Sophie realises that she is only twenty and that although she loves Sky (her fiancee) she doesn't want to marry him yet. She tells him this at the altar. Sam proposes to Donna and they marry there instead. Sophie explains to the dads why she asked them there and they say that they are happy being a third of her father. Harry 'comes out of the closet' and Bill and Rosie get together.
