Feeling of hopelessness, complete and total lack of mood. You basically feel completely empty inside, not even bad, just empty and bitter. You don't care about anything, you feel like you don't have a future and that nothing good will ever come out of your life.
In addition to that you may have headaches, lack of appetite and insomnia.
The main difference between depression and major depression is the length of time one has experienced symptoms and how these symptoms affect the person's everyday functioning. Some of the most noticeable signs are: #1 too much sleep or they feel extremely tired but they can't sleep. #2 a lack of interest in things that they once found interesting. Like if a topic that once made that person excited just doesn't peak that person's interest anymore. #3 lack of hygiene. I'm not saying that this person may not be clean or anything but look for unusual activity like maybe only showering every other day instead of everyday or if its a girl who usually wears makeup all the time and now she isn't. #4 always feeling physically sick but it's kind of hard to pin point what it is exactly just like having the blahs #5 just a plain ole break from normal habits. Maybe this person use to walk their dog all the time but not lately or they normally like to have people over. #6 Big one! Socially isolating! When someone feels depressed they honestly don't like to be around other people. At any rate if you or you think a loved one maybe depressed don't hesitate to talk to someone who can help whether that be a school counselor or parent or even your doctor (anyone of them!) Depression is normal for everyone but sometimes a chemical imbalance maybe the cause which means more than coping skills need to be discussed. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Sometimes unhappy people are unable to complete their routine activities.
