A skeleton crew is when you're doing something with a lesser amount of people than usually needed.

Let's say a fast food restaurant that's open day and night. The night shift probably doesn't see as many customers as the day and evening shifts. So they'll have as few as possible working and still be able to remain open and in business. And that - the minimum amount of people needed to keep going - is often called a skeleton crew.

Or a hotel off-season. No need to keep all the staff in place if only a few rooms are rented.

Skeleton crew is also a clothing line and record label belonging to My Chemical Romance rhythm guitarist and Leathermouth vocalist Frank Iero. He runs it with his wife and co-founder, Jamia Nestor lero.

A skeleton crew is the minimum number of people required to operate a system safely. Non-essential peripheral and auxiliary systems are not used and the personnel for these systems are not included.
