28 gauge with single barrel How do you find its age and value?
Possibly a Model 37? About $250-$300, depending on condition.
First, if it is a 16 gauge I don't think that it is a Deer Slayer. From my knowledge and experience, Ithaca only made the Deer Slayer in 12 and 20 gauge. Second, what is the model number? There were two different model numbers with the Deer Slayer name attached to them. Wrong. I own a 16 gauge Ithaca with the deerslayer barrel. It was my fathers and his father's before him. It's a Model 37. Indeed I as well own a 16 ga deerslayer, from 1970 .they are few and far between but yes the did make it,and in my mind the sweetest shotgun i ever put in my hands light fast and amazing accurate with beautiful checkering and for myself being a left handed shooter the bottom eject is excellent for not ejecting empty shells in the way of field of vision
Without a detailed description of all markings, features, barrel length, finish, caliber/gauge, type of action, sights and any papers/accessories, there is no way to tell.
