Stainless steel with a hollow air core vacuum sealed is the best. Stanley is one of the best.
Don't seal it. It has to hale drainage holes for water to drain out. You can paint if you want. It doesn't matter.
I made them in grade 4. I wouldn't recommend wood. But you can try it.
