The annular tear that your are referring to is that of the cartilidge or otherwise know at the disk that sits at your s1 vertebrate. sub acute means that it is a small tear starting on the outer edge if properly care for with physiotherapy your recovery is good when it is this small it usually does not require surgery. I know about this because i see a chiropractor with neuro sciences in her back ground and she did an MRI of my back and the radiologist found s1 and s2 Arthritis however when she went back over the radiologist missed the arthritis in the s3 also. If you take care of it now you can avoid a painful future if you are from northeast Indiana then i would consider looking up Chiropractic Resource Center in New Haven or Fort Wayne, In. Physiotherapy could really do you some good.

What causes an Posterior annular tear of L5-S1?

A posterior annular tear is a tear in the ligament fibers that cover the inner core of a disc. The discs separate each vertebra in your spine. A posterior annular tear in the L5-S1 discs indicates the location in which these tears occur. L5 is the fifth and lowest of the lumbar vertebra and the S1 is the first and highest sacral vertebra.

What is a right posterolateral annular tear with no protrusion in the L5 S1 with disk bulging?

A right posterolateral annular tear with no protrusion in the L5 S1 with disk bulging occurs when the S1 nerve is impinged by the S1 and S2 vertebrae. This is an injury of the lumbar region of the spine, the most susceptible place on the spine to herniation due to the thin and poorly reinforced annulus fibrosis ligament.

How is a annular tear repaired?

The intervertebral disc that sits between two vertebrae contains a highly pressurized center called the nucleus pulposus. This material is held in place by a strong ligamentous material called the annulus fibrosis. As long as the integrity of the annulus is in order, no nuclear material can escape from the nucleus pulposus. However, since the posterior or outer third of the annulus is filled with nerve fiber of the sinu-vertebral nerve, when it comes into contact with nuclear material, a patient feels pain. An annular disc tear is when the substance of the annulus fibrosus "rips" or "tears," allowing the highly pressurized and nucleus pulposus to escape outward toward the outer third of the disc.

What are 4 string handling function?

strlen(s1) to find the length of the string s1 strcpy(s1,s2) copy source string to destination string(i.e copies s2 to s1,s2 remain unchanged) strcmp(s1,s2) compares s1 and s2 and prints 0 if s1 and s2 are equal,-1 if s2 is greater, 1 if s1 is greater strcat(s1,s2) combines string s1 and s2 to a single word and stores it in s1 strupr() converts lower case string to upper case strlwr() converts upper case string to lower case

What does an MRI showing a posterior central annular tear at the lumbar five sacral one area mean?

I will break this down by individual word, then build it back up to the full diagnosis. Posterior is a directional term, meaning "towards the back". Central means in the middle of. Annular is the fancy term for ring, generally referring to the tough fibrous capsule in an intervertebral disc. A tear is an abnormal separation of a normally intact tissue. "Lumbar five sacral one" is often written L5/S1 and refers to the intervertebral disc space between the last lower back vertebra and the first fused vertebra of the hip bone assembly. Putting this back together, you have a ripped portion of the tough capsule of your intervertebral disc at the base of your spine, specifically through the portion of the ring that is closest to the skin along your backbone. This could be a concern, as a tear in the ring can predispose you to have a "slipped disc" or "herniated disc" at this location - your doctor can tell you more about what the risks are and what preventive measures you can take.
