The Turpentine Tree.
Also called the Turpentine Tree, small deciduous Terebinth Tree is the first known source of Turpentine in the area of the Mediterranean. It was used as a medicine by the ancient Greeks.

The terebinth tree (Pistacia terebinthus), native to the Mediterranean areas, is extremely heat and drought resistant. It was mentioned in the Bible as the tree that provided shade to nomadic wanderers. Some were planted, and are still growing, at the old USDA agricultural station in San Antonio, Texas, which is hardiness zone 8b.
