A toucan's prey (which varies some depending on species) includes insects, arachnids, and other species of birds (they also eat bird eggs, however the bulk of their diet is made up of fruit rather than meat and other animal products). I've heard of them going after small reptiles as well, but I can't verify that this is true for sure. However telling by the behavior of my pet toucan (an emerald toucanet) they will go after just about anything that moves so long as it's not way too large to be prey. Toucans prey is insects or such birds.

Do toucans eAT SLOTHS?

No, toucans do not eat sloths. Toucans primarily feed on fruit, insects, and small animals, but their diet does not include larger mammals like sloths. Sloths are much larger than what a toucan could realistically prey upon. Toucans are more known for their colorful beaks and role in seed dispersal within their rainforest habitats.

What is the tucans prey?

Toucans are primarily frugivorous (fruit eating), but are opportunistically omnivorous and will take prey such as insects and small lizards. Captive toucans have been reported to actively hunt insects in their cages, and it is possible to keep toucans on an insect-only diet. They also plunder nests of smaller birds, taking eggs and nestlings This probably provides a crucial addition of protein to their diet. However, in their range, toucans are the dominant frugivores, and as such play an extremely important ecological role as vectors for seed dispersal of fruiting trees. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tucan

How is a toucan a predator and also a prey?

The short and simple answer is that it is both predator and prey. A typical toucan's diet consists mainly of fruit. However, toucans are known to eat small snakes and lizards, insects, and the eggs and nestlings of other small birds as part of their diet. Toucans are the prey of larger predatory birds such as hawks as well as predator cats such as the jaguar.
