Triglycerides are tri-esters of glycerol and fatty acids.

More simply, they are animal fats and vegetable oils.

Glycerol is made up of a 3 carbon backbone, each with a hydroxl (-OH) functional group attached.

Fatty acids are long chain carboxylic acids.

They attach to the Glycerol molecule via an ester linkage to form Triglyceride
