A Nekton is a grouping of living organisms that live in the water column of the ocean and freshwater lakes. So, it could be anything from microscopic organisms, to a shark, to a whale, a trout or bass etc. Thus, fish are included within this classification.

Nekton: are organisms that live in the neritic zone ( or the middle zone in the pelagic environment)
