You can take classes or courses to become an Emergency Medical Technician at certain colleges offering these courses in your area like Seneca or UOIT or some other college.
What can I do to become a paramedic?
You can become a paramedic by becoming an emergency medical technician or so called (EMT-B). Some states have other terminologies in this like (EMT-1). You must undergo a basic training skills, just look over on you community probably in the hospitals. Then you get a job as an emergency medical technician. Then take a preparatory class that is needed like anatomy & physiology, electrocardiography (ECG), algebra and at least a 10th grade reading comprehension. Then after that, you graduate and become a paramedic
What jobs can you do with an EMT-B?
EMT's can do other jobs with their certification, but not many. Some hospitals will hire EDT's (Emergency Department Tech's) which use your EMT knowledge in a hospital setting. They will give you additional training based on what they would like you to be able to do outside the scope of the EMT practice. You may also get a job on a transport truck, which is an EMT which does not run emergency calls. You will get scheduled routine transferred (such as taking a patient to doctor visits, home from the hospital, etc.)
Can I have paramedic training in EMT?
Yes you can have some paramedic training at EMT (Emergency medical technician). At EMT you can take the practical training so you will become an expert. The experience you will own help you after studies to your future work.
