VGT means "variable geometry turbocharger." Cummins uses these. They can change the angle of the impeller blades to increase or decrease boost.

What is the difference between VN turbo and VG turbo?

Variable Nozzle Turbo (VNT) or Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) is similar. These days, all Common-rail direct injection Turbo Diesel engines are capable to deliver massive horsepower and torque. All thanks to the technology of VNT/VGT. With this system, the turbine on the intake side has movable guide vanes that change position to provide optimum flow conditions and a high turbine efficiency rating, throughout the engine speed range. This permits high boost pressure from low engine speeds, and thus a flatter torque curve and higher power output.

Why would a turbo not spoil on a 6.6 duramax?

Exhaust leak, damaged compressor/turbine wheel or a fault vgt turbo.

Where is silencer ring on 6.0 diesel?

6.0 powerstrokes use a VGT turbo which the silencer ring was cast into the compressor itself. you can cut it out but that is not recommended. early 03 6.0's had a silencer ring but dont know how to remove it.

Is a gasoline-diesel fuel a good mixture to get more power from a diesel engine?

not at all. that will cause engine damage. gasoline burns at a much lower temperature than diesel fuel so you will get pre ignition. diesel fuel has more useable power in than gasoline. gasoline is rated in octane and diesel fuel is rated in cetane. with diesel fuel the higher the cetane the faster the fuel will burn for a more complete combustion. so if you want more power from a diesel a place to start is a higher cetane diesel fuel. but things like bigger trubos, vgt turbos, injectors, intercoolers have a much bigger effect on power than fuel

Will using low sulfur diesel fuel damage an engine that calls for ultra low sulfur diesel fuel?

Low sulfur fuels produce less carbon soot build up in engines, causing less need for engine maintenance. Certain 2000 - 2006 ford diesel engines such as the 6.0 will cake up on the exhaust side of the turbo on the vgt (variable geometry turbos) causing it to stick or sieze into position. Egr systems with valves causing drivability problems. (sticking components) If at all possible find the best possible fuel to avoid costly repairs. On the other hand low sulphur fuel or the methods used to remove sulphur from diesel fuel are reducing lubricity and causing early fuel injection pump failures.

Can you twin turbo a four cylinder?

Yes and no... Yes - it is possible if you use really small turbos... No - it would be a waste of money and because you loose too much flow rate going with too little of turbos you would be limited to a very low gain of power. Yes - you could use 2 turbos on a 4cyl by doing it bi-turbo which is controlled through an actuating system where both turbos are the same trim but one has a low AR ratio and the other has a hi AR ratio. The actuating system switches power from one Turbo to the other to get a perfect gain of power across a long range of engine rpm. Though this is a big waste as newer VGT turbos (variable geometry turbines) change their AR ratio depensing on how much throttle you give to the engine which VGT turbos are pretty nifty but can be difficult to maintain. Another way is to go compound which is an alot more efficient use of a force induced performance system. Problem is, unless you're using a diesel engine, its a little to alot over kill for most gas engines, built or not. This setup is much easier to do aswell as its all turbo tech / physics and much less guess work.
