What is a vision ward in League of Legends?

A vision ward is a useable item that grants you vision in a certain area of the map. Vision wards differ from sight wards in the fact that they cost more gold, but also grant vision of stealthed enemies and enemy items, including enemy wards. Once used, the item will disappear from your inventory. When placed, a vision ward will only last for a few minutes before expiring and disappearing from the map.
