The genus Xylosma features one species cultivated in North America, Xylosma congestum. This beautiful evergreen foliage plant of Asian origin is tough, drought resistant and offers a bright yellow green leaf. It's commonly used as a hedge in warmer climate areas such as California. When grown as an individual and pruned to a branching trunk, it makes a fine small tree for patio or city lot. The blooms of these plants are nectar rich and highly fragrant though not particularly attractive. There's a link below that takes you to a photo and more thorough description of Xylosma at Learn2grow.com
