Yardie
A yardie is a Jamaican, or a member of an Afro-Caribbean gang who engages in organized crime.
A 'Yardie' is member of an international gang of Jamaican criminals who sell drugs and violence. The oragin of the term stemms from the slang name given to occupants of government yards in Trenchtown, a neighborhood in West Kingston, Jamaica. Trenchtown was originally built as a housing project following devastation caused by Hurricane Charlie. Each development was built around a central courtyard with communal cooking facilities. Due to the poverty endemic in the neighborhood, crime and gang violence became rife, leading the occupants of Trenchtown to be in part stigmatized by the term "Yardie".
It means a Jamaica person living abroad and refering to themselves as if they've never left. Its like saying "I'm home, no matter were I am. Always going to be in my yard."
Jamaica is known as yard or "yaad" in patois. If you were speaking of your home it would be "mi yard" and not "my house". If you leave Jamaica and return you would be "back a yaad" and anyone from Jamaica is known as a yardie or "yaadie" in patois.
On the final Mark Hammond and Frank Carter missions. Charlie Jolson is blown up on the Sol Vita ship along with Nick Collins (The leader of the Collins Crew), and the 14K Triad Boss (And his whole gang is wiped out too). Jamahl (The Yardie Gang Boss) manages to survive though.
