The corn exchange is a concert hall that books live performances, such as comedy acts, concerts, and theatrical performances. Most notably (at least bragged about on the website) is that this is one of only two locations in the UK (outside of London) that hosts the Philharmonic Orchestra.
A corn or grain exchange is a central location for trade in grain. While these exchanges have become more centralized since the 19th Century, when one existed in most towns, in the UK there are still several corn exchanges in operation. These include Cambridge, Bedford, Brighton, Preston, Newport, Leicester, Leeds, Liverpool and Chichester among others.
Cambridge Corn Exchange was created in 1875.
