Overall, the polar bear has a stable population, but some are still hunted on a limited basis. The global warming aspect is still not conclusive, as there has been no warming for 17 years, and the ice pack has grown.

∙ 12y agoThe biggest threat to polar bears from global warming is the loss of their habitat. Bears rely on sea ice to feed, as they track down seal caves under the surface of the ice and break through to catch their prey. They need to build up the fat stores in their bodies during the winter because the sea ice is melting in summer earlier each year. They are then forced onto land where they have to compete with other animals for food in an unfamiliar environment.
