Trilobites were associated with the Paleozoic era, from the Cambrian to the Permian.

Although researching has provided a definition for the word trilobite there does not seem to be any reference as to why one would be referred to as a trilobite. A trilobite is an extinct arthropod from Paleozoic times of which the skeleton is divided into three parts.
No Paleozoic is not the second era it is the first era

Warm, shallow seas covered most of Earth's surface near the end of the Paleozoic Era.
The first period in the Paleozoic Era was the Cambrian.
The Permian period is the last period of the Paleozoic era
