Throughout American history there have been small, often off-shoot political parties that express alternative views or maintain specific agendas. The most notable current example would be the Tea Party, an offshoot of the Republican Party. Other examples would be the Socialist Labor Party formed in 1898 in this country and the Social Workers Party, founded by the Communist Party USA in 1928. The Libertarian party, which has somewhat more mainstream awareness, would be another example of an alternative political party.

Other smaller parties, such as the Liberal Democrats and the Scottish National Party, also contribute to the opposition but are not the primary opposition party.

This occurs when one party fails to fulfill their contractual obligations, and the other party has no reasonable means of enforcing performance. In such cases, the aggrieved party may terminate the contract and potentially seek damages for any losses incurred.
