Specific experience and educational levels may vary by state.EMT paramedic training offers advanced courses and typically includes anatomy and physiology. Other courses include electrocardiography (ECG) training and advanced medical skills. Additionally, field experience is part of the training programs for certification.Most programs are from 18 to 24 months at a community college. Successful completion prepares students to qualify for an advanced emergency technician-critical care (AEMT-CC) or an advanced emergency medical technician-paramedic (AEMT-P) certification.Each level EMT is required to take periodic refresher courses and continuing education in order to have up-to-date certification.
