The prototype for the term diaspora are the Jewish people. Nowadays the term is also used for several other transnational groups, for example oversea Chinese (huaren), armenians, kurdish people etc. The idea behind the term is the imagination of a fictional homeland from which the people spread off in the world. Diaspora is a constructed ethnic population category. The addition constructed is added with reference to the Afroamerican diaspora who define themselves as American descendents and African descendents. Other groups had develop similar patchwork identity.
