Each fish has its own individual adaptations to allow it to live in all sorts of environments. In general, most fish have the following:

1. gills: these allow fish to breathe underwater without having to return to the surface

2. fins: these allow the fish to move easily through the water

3. slime: while it may seem gross, most fish are coated in a layer of slime that allows them to glide more easily through the water, and some fish even use it to protect themselves from predators

4. color: fish often have colors that play some role in helping them to blend in, to warn predators that they may be poisonous, etc. Some can even change their color to match that of their environment

5. eyes: the eyes on a fish tend to be positioned where they will be most helpful. Flounders and other bottom dwellers have eyes facing upwards so that they can see predators from below, while other fish have them facing forwards to see directly in front of them

6. behavior: there are TONS of behavioral adaptations for fish, far too many for me to list here. Some of the more common/interesting ones include: fish schooling together to protect each other and to confuse predators, hunting in groups and working as a team to corner prey, and shrimp and golbies working together to guard a burrow for them both to live in.

Your fish can adapt to the water by you doing your part. After you buy your fish you need to leave it in the bag he came in and set the bag [with the fish in it] in the tank you have set up for it. After fifteen minutes let the fish out of the bag it is in and put it in the tank. While the fish is in the bag, as it's in the water, the process of you doing your part allows the fish to adapt to the water temperature.

What adaptation allows for the dolphins to reach the fish?

Dolphins like bats and whales, have developed a adaptation called eco-location. This adaptation enables the dolphin to admit a sound, once the sound waves come into contact with the fish or object. The sounds bounce back, the dolphin then interprets how far the fish is by the strength and loudness of the noise.
