An antedating is an act of marking with an earlier date, or of adding an earlier citation to something.
Durkheim claimed the Engineering profession, with a solid reputation for safety factors and down-to-earth calculations of risk, etc. by the way the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the C.O.E. was founded on 6.l6 of l775 thus the oldest specialized corps of the service, and antedating the revolution. Colonel John Stevens is generally considered the founder.
The word antedates is both a noun and a verb. The noun antedate (antedates) is a date assigned to an event or document earlier than the actual date of the event or document. The verb antedate (antedates, antedating, antedated) is to date as of a time prior to that of execution; to assign to a date prior to that of actual occurrence; to precede in time.

In CA Court of Appeals case O'Loane v. O'Rourke a distinction was made between planning and zoning as follows:"While municipal planning embraces zoning, the converse does not hold true. They are not convertible terms. Zoning is not devoid of planning, but it does not include the whole of planning. Zoning is separation of the municipality into districts, and the regulation of buildings and structures, according to their construction, and the nature and extent of their use, and the nature and extent of uses of land. Planning has a much broader connotation. It has in its view, the physical development of the community and its environs in relation to its social and economic well-being for the fulfillment of the rightful common destiny, according to a 'master plan' based on 'careful and comprehensive surveys and studies of present conditions and the prospects of future growth of the municipality,' and embodying scientific teaching and creative experience. In a word, this is an exercise of the State's inherent authority, antedating the Constitution itself, to have recourse to such measures as may serve the basic common moral and material needs. Planning to this end is as old as government itself - of the very essence of an ordered and civilized society..."
Properly speaking there was no such Monarch. Queen Victoria was given the title of Empress of India I believe in l887. This was engineered by her Prime Minister, Benjamin Disraeli. Mr. Disraeli came up with the so-called (Royal Titles Bill) sometimesd called(Foreign Titles Bill) so Her Majesty could reign over both the United Kingdom as Queen and as Empress of India. The Royal Titles Bill self-destructed with the abandonment of India as a crown colony in I belileve l947, so Empress of India is NOT one of Elizabeth II"s royal titles, though FD (Fide Defensor) is still Ont he books and on the coins, the F.D. means defender of the faith, not Fire Department! Byt hje way strictly speaking the term British Empire was not official prior to the Royal titles Bill, theogh England had many colonies and dominions antedating this. By the way the phrase in the concluding antiphon of the Lord"s prayer rendered (Kingdom) in the King James Translation,(For thine is the Kingdom..) is rendered EMPIRE in the French translation-pour Vouse etes L"Empire! Different strokes(of Royal scepter) for different nationalities.
It is difficult to answer this accurately as most modern comic strips are syndicated and run in different papers simultaneously (Hurrah for the ancestors of the internet such as the wire services and teletype!) For example Dick Tracy concurrently ran-identical plots and stories in The New York Daily News and the Los Angeles Times. One ciould foloow the story line from either paper. The King feature syndicate syndicated Popeye and also Felix the Cat. They were among the oldest, antedating Disney and Warner in the animated cartoon and comics field.
The Old Testament writers, using the standard procedure of their time, simply stated that an event from historical times occurred in a particular year of the reign of a king of either Israel or Judah. For earlier traditions, they merely stated that a person lived to a particular age, sometimes adding that a son was born when his father was a certain number of years old. There was no standard calendar. The northern kingdom, Israel, was culturally different in a number of ways from the southern kingdom of Judah. One difference that can result in minor errors in understanding biblical dates is that the scribes of Judah counted the regnal years of their kings from the month Tishri (September - October), while the scribes in Israel apparently reckoned the regnal years of their kings from the month Nisan (March - April). Also, the scribes of Israel used the Egyptian nonaccession-year ("postdating") system in reckoning the reigns of their kings from the division of the kingdom down to 798 BCE, and the Babylonian accession-year ("antedating") system from that year onward. Judah must have employed the accession-year system for their kings, except during the period when the northern kingdom dominated Judah 848-796 BCE. According to the nonaccession-year system, that portion of a year which followed a king's accession to the throne and which preceded the official New Year (whether Tishri 1 or Nisan 1) was counted as his first official year. According to the accession-year system, that initial period was called his accession year, and not until after the New Year did his first official year begin.
