Astrolopithicus is a techno jam composed by Paul Carrig and roughly translated means Space-Ape.

Astro- from the Latin astrum : (star, constellation) refers to any light in the night sky and is loosely defined in its current context as Space.

Pithicus or Pithecus- from the Greek πίθηκος pithekos translates to Ape in English.

The lo should probably be omitted and is the result of a common misunderstanding of the breakdown of the word Australopithecus (southern ape).

Technically the word should be spelled Astropithecus but that doesn't make Paul Carrig's techno jam any less groovy.
