This set of coordinates shows up as a question on WikiAnswers about twice each month, and in spite of all the seismic activity in this part of North America, the point hasn't appreciably moved yet. It's still on the steep north face of the hill, about 190-ft south of the intersection of East Oak Canyon Dr and Athel Dr, in Hacienda Heights CA. Still about 15 miles east-southeast of downtown LA.
Generally? Los Angeles, CA. More specifically, thos coordinates are about halfway between Hacienda Heights, CA and Whittier, CA, just to the west of Los Angeles.
This question shows up on WikiAnswers roughly twice a month. In fact, I just answered it yesterday. I've really become intrigued to know what homework assignment or exam it's coming from. Clearly, everybody is fishing for "Los Angeles". Unfortunately, that point is not in LA. It's still located on the block bounded by Athel Dr., Edgeridge Dr., Skyline Dr., and Descending Dr., on the north side of Workman Hill, in Hacienda Heights, California, about 15 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles as the crow flies. The point has not moved since the first time it was answered here, and barring any really significant seismic or tectonic activity, it's not likely to in the near future. If you want "Los Angeles" to be the answer, then the coordinates have to change. "34 degrees north and 118 degrees west" is still not in L.A.
