The only real difference between a manual whisk and an electric one is the speed at which the whisk can beat and the fact it's an electrical appliance. This means you should follow these precautions:
Never put your fingers or clothing articles anywhere near any active food processing device (so your sleeve or scarf doesn't get drawn in, for example), never open one up (elecrical hazard), and always remember to unplug it before you take the device apart for cleaning so that you don't accidentally get a shock or activate the machine.
